[Phd] Courses taken from other doctoral schools

Dear Dr. Gede,

Thank you for your email and for the clarification regarding courses taken
outside the course offerings of the Earth Sciences Doctoral School.

I would like to provide the information regarding the courses I have
registered for and explain their relevance to my PhD research.

At present, I have registered for the following courses:

1. Guided Research, FÖL/K25, 25 credits
Although the course appears as optional in Neptun, guided research is a
required component of our PhD studies, with students expected to complete
guided research each semester. I have therefore registered for 25 credits
this semester, having completed guided research credits during the previous
semesters as well.


2. Remote Sensing Sensors, FÖL/3/41, 6 credits
This course is directly relevant to my PhD research because I work
extensively with remotely sensed data, including Digital Elevation Models
(DEMs), NDVI and other remote sensing-derived datasets, which form part of
the data used in my geodiversity and environmental analyses.


3. Thematic Cartography, FÖL/3/002E
I registered for this course because producing high-quality thematic maps
is an important part of my PhD research. I believe the practical knowledge
and experience gained from the course will be particularly useful for
developing and presenting the maps required for my research and
publications.

I had also initially registered for Map Projections, but I have since
dropped the course after considering my current course load and its
relevance to my research.

My understanding was that these courses could be useful for strengthening
the technical and practical skills required for my PhD research, even
though they may not be among the regular offerings of the Earth Sciences
Doctoral School.

I would also like to mention that I am currently not fully aware of which
compulsory courses I am expected to complete during this stage of my PhD.
When I checked the course registration options in Neptun, I could not
identify any courses specifically marked as compulsory for my programme
this semester. I also previously contacted my supervisor to ask whether
there were particular compulsory courses I needed to register for, but he
was not aware of any specific courses either.

I would therefore be very grateful if you could kindly advise me on which
courses are compulsory throughout my PhD studies, particularly those that I
should be taking at this stage. This would help me plan my remaining
semesters properly and ensure that I complete all the necessary
requirements.

Regarding the courses listed above, I am, of course, happy to adjust my
registrations if any of them are not eligible for credit recognition or if
you recommend that I take different courses offered by the Earth Sciences
Doctoral School.

Thank you very much for your guidance and support. I would greatly
appreciate any clarification you can provide regarding both the approval of
these courses and the compulsory course requirements for my PhD.
